143 Thrive Deeper: Romans Chapters 12-16

As we move into these last 5 chapters of Romans, the Theology that Paul has presented in Romans Chapter 1- 11, is what informs the actions we see Paul speak to now in Chapters 12-16. This is where Paul demonstrates that Doctrine is not separate from practical Christianity. Rather it is the force behind it. In light of what God has done, here is how we should live. Chapter 12:1-2 â€“ Personal sacrifice. Chapter 12:3-8 â€“ Sacrifice in the Church. Chapter 12:9-21 â€“ Sacrifice in Relationships. Chapter 13: 1-14 â€“ Understanding the times in which we live. Chapter 13:8-10 â€“ Understanding leads to love for one another. Chapter 13:11-14 â€“ Understanding leads to pleasing God. Chapter 14 - Unity in the church. Unity is more important than agreement on nonessential matters in the Christian life. Unity reveals LOVE as this is the only things that can bring together people who differ. Chapter 15 - We see Paul as a builder of the church, servant of the church, shepherd of the church, and Apostle of the church.

Meet The Presenters

Dr Matt Jacoby

Matt is the teaching pastor at his church in Victoria, Australia, lecturer at the Melbourne School of Theology, an author, a songwriter and, a musician leading the Psalms project band Sons of Korah.

Matt has a doctorate in philosophy and theology from the University of Melbourne, and is the author of the daily Bible reading guide Thrive launched in 2005. Matt's most recent work as an author is his book Deeper Places (Baker Books USA 2013) with an expanded edition released in 2019. In Deeper Places, Matt shares a rich portrait of authentic spirituality. A gifted teacher and Bible scholar, Matthew is invited to speak at conferences and churches where he brings a fresh but foundational perspective to Scripture.

DJ Paine

DJ is a podcaster, photographer and has had a number of years experience as a Christian Radio Breakfast announcer. He would consider himself a professional Christian music geek & amateur Bible nerd. DJ was raised on the Gold Coast and studied at Word Of Life Bible College in Sydney.
